Breast Milk Fortified with Similac Human Milk Fortifier: 24 Calories/ounce
Recipe:
25 mL breast milk + 1 packet of Human Milk Fortifier
Or
50 mL breast milk + 2 packets of Human Milk Fortifier
How to make the formula:
- Make sure your countertop and utensils are clean.
- Wash your hands well with soap and warm water.
- Check the expiration date of fortifier before using. Throw away outdated fortifier.
- Gently shake closed bottle until blended.
- Once mixed, the breast milk plus Human Milk Fortifier may be stored in the refrigerator for up to 24 hours.
- After feeding the baby, throw away any breast milk that is left in the bottle.
Important:
- Only add the fortifier to breast milk. Do not add to water or formula.
- Warm the breast milk by setting the bottle in warm water. Do not warm breast milk in the microwave.
- Test the temperature of the breast milk before feeding.
- Mix with full packets. Do not split packets.
- Do not use more than 20 packets a day of Human Milk Fortifier.
- You should stop using the recipe if you run out of breast milk. Your recipe will be different for formula.
